Default Rise in malware infections

Over the past month I have noticed a sharp increase in the amount of spyware / adware going around.

I do computer repair full time. In the past month I have had several people call me with the same exact problems, their computers have stopped working. Usually a scan of spybot or adaware will help clean the systems up. But these infections stop adaware from updating and stop spybot from running.

There is a new malware removal tool called malware malbytes. Its a pretty good malicious software removal tool. But these new bugs stop that tool from being installed.

To clean these new bugs out, I have had to do a side by side install of windows XP. and then use the fresh install to clean the old install.

All of the victims had several things in common. All of them were not fully patched, all were using internet explorer and all were getting on myspace.

Never use Internet Explorer and I never use MySpace. I am a lucky guy.
